Matthew Jones (Dallas, Texas) was a winner from the fourth spot in the lineup to earn his 14
th singles victory of the year.
Jones went to a tiebreaker in the first set against Borja Miralles but eventually came away with a 7-6 (5), 6-4 decision in straight sets. He improved to 14-12 in singles matches this season while tallying his third dual victory in the No. 4 lineup spot. Jones is tied for the team lead in singles play on the year, while his combined 24 victories in singles and doubles matches give him the team lead outright.
The host Bulldogs won the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead in the team score, while the No. 1 doubles match featuring Jones and Suarez against Michael Dickson and Drew Michael was not played to completion.
