For their second of five straight road games, the Villanova Wildcats (1-4) will travel to Piscataway, New Jersey in a weekend matchup against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (5-0). An undefeated Rutgers team comes into the match ranked No.14 in the ILWomen/IWCLA National Poll.
The all-time series has favored the Scarlet Knights, as they have won 21 of 23 previous matchups.
In their last game, Villanova fell to City 6 foe Saint Joesph's 16-12 Wednesday evening.
Caroline Curnal scored a career high five goals, while securing a game high nine draw controls. The senior midfielder is currently fifth in the NCAA with 8.6 draw controls per game. A trio of senior midfielders have led the Wildcats in scoring through five games, as Curnal has scored 12 goals,
Alexa Tsahalis has 10 and
Libby McKenna has scored nine.
Rutgers enters the matchup having defeated Monmouth Wednesday 19-8. The Scarlet Knights have scored 16 or more goals in each game this season. The high powered offense has been led by graduate attacker Taralyn Naslonski (22g) and junior midfielder Cassidy Spilis (19g). Spilis was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List, highlighting the top players in the country, to begin the season.
