Four Wildcats set to compete at CSCAA National Invitational Championship

The three-day meet sends the ‘Cats to Elkhart, Ind. March 10-12

VILLANOVA, Pa. – This week, four Villanova women's swimmers will make their way to the Beacon Health Aquatic Center in Elkhart, Ind. to compete at the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Invitational Championship from March 10-12.

Brenna McLaughlin, Francesca Raimondi, Perri Stahl and Cara Stapleton are set to represent the Wildcats in the three-day meet, competing in at least five events each between individual and relay swims. In relay action, they will team up for the 400 Free Relay, 200 Free Relay, 800 Free Relay and 200 Medley. The group combined for seven top-three swims at the BIG EAST Championships, three bronze-worthy individual swims and four gold-medal relays while earning seven All-BIG EAST swims.

McLaughlin won bronze at the conference meet in the 500 Free, resetting her personal-best time at 4:53.34. She also set a personal best in the 200 Free (1:51.93). She is set to compete in the 500 Free, 1000 Free and 1650 Free.

Raimondi heads into the NIC set to participate in the 500 Free and 200 Back. She recorded a new personal-best in the 500 Free at the BIG EAST Championships, touching the wall in 4:59.04 of the prelims before recording an eight-place finish in the finals at 4:59.34.

Stahl left the conference championships with five top-three swims. She earned a pair of bronze medals in the 50 Free (23.19) and 100 Breast (1:03.16), both setting new personal-best times. She also reset her mark in the 200 Breast at 2:20.53. The junior was a BIG EAST Champion in three relays, swimming second leg in the 400 Medley and 200 Medley while going third leg in the 200 Free. That 200 Medley team reset the program's best time with a 1:39.53 while the 400 Medley group logged the second-fastest time at 3:40.16. This week, she will be taking to the blocks for the 50 Free, 50 Breast, 100 Breast and 200 Breast.

Stapleton was also a part of a relay team that moved up the program record books at the BIG EAST Championships, logging the fifth-fastest time in the 400 Free Relay with a winning time of 3:20.68. She notched a new personal-best in the 50 Free (23.48) and the 200 Free (1:52.03), as well. This week, she will compete in the 50 Free and 100 Free.

Each day of the event will feature prelim sessions at 9:30 a.m. before finals start at 6 p.m. More information can be found here at the CSCAA NIC meet central page.
