VILLANOVA, Pa.—A Saturday afternoon home match was wiped out due to rain after Villanova (3-12) won the doubles point against Duquesne (7-8) at the West Campus Tennis Complex. All six of the singles matches were in progress when play was halted, with five of those competitions in the second set. Prior to the inclement weather, the Wildcats posted wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to secure the first team point which was ultimately erased due to the cancelation.
 
The first doubles match to be completed was in the No. 2 match where the visiting Dukes scored a 6-1 victory. Villanova reeled off wins in the other two matches however, with the duo of senior Matthew Jones (Dallas, Texas) and junior Justin Suarez (Manila, Philippines) clinching the doubles point with a 7-6 (6) win over Alejandro Rodriguez-Vidal and Tamirlan Teberikov in the No. 1 spot. The other victory came from sophomores Josh Robinson (Potomac, Md.) and Noah Winton (Columbia, Mo.) who were 6-3 winners over Liam Wickwire and Kaipo Marshall at No. 3 doubles.
 
Sophomore Anthony Prokurat (Manalapan, N.J.) and freshman Trey Fourticq (Los Angeles, Calif.) fell at No. 2 doubles by a 6-1 score to Jin Dassanayake and Alex Mascioli.
 
The only singles match the Wildcats held a lead in when play was halted was in the No. 6 spot where junior Alex Kim (Cary, N.C.) held a 6-2, 1-0 lead over Bode Vance. The match at No. 2 singles between Jones and Mascioli was tied 6-6 in the first set and Mascioli had just won the first point of the tiebreaker when the rains came.
