MERION STATION, Pa.—Playing for the second straight day and the fourth time in the past six days, Villanova (3-14) got a win from sophomore
Noah Winton (Columbia, Mo.) in the No. 6 singles match but fell by a final score of 6-1 to Saint Joseph's (12-3) at the SJU Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon. Two more matches remain for the Wildcats before the BIG EAST Championships later this month.
Winton faced Hawks veteran Nassim Fenjiro at No. 6 singles and won his opening set by a 6-2 score. He was ahead in the second set, 4-2, when Fenjiro retired and the match was counted in favor of Winton. The other singles matches ended in straight sets as Saint Joseph's came away with the team victory. The closest of the other matches on the day came at No. 5 singles where sophomore
Anthony Prokurat (Manalapan, N.J.) narrowly lost a 6-3, 6-3 decision to Eshan Kanetkar.

In the doubles matches earlier in the day, Agbo and Sentay posted a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles over Fourticq and Prokurat. Junior

Alex Kim (Cary, N.C.) for the first time this season at No. 3 doubles and the pair was defeated by Fenjiro and Alex MacNeil. Jones and Suarez were playing the No. 1 doubles match versus Frisk and Perrone; play was tied 4-4 when Saint Joseph's clinched the doubles point and the teams moved onto the singles competitions.
