Villanova, Pa.- Villanova celebrated its 2021-22 season Thursday night inside the Finneran Pavilion with the Nova Nation, University officials, and a host of Men's Basketball alumni.
Graduate student guard
Collin Gillespie was the recipient of the Villanova Basketball Award, the program's highest honor. Gillespie closed out a storied career with 1858 points as a Wildcat, earning the Bob Cousy Award and BIG EAST Player of the Year.Â
Gillesipe and
Justin Moore received the Most Outstanding Player Award. Gillespie averaged 15.6 points per game and was 90.1% from the free throw line this season. Moore, a native of Fort Washington, Maryland eared Second Team All-BIG EAST and First Team All-Philadelphia Big Five honors this season after averaging 14.8 points per game.Â
Redshirt sophomore
Eric Dixon took home the Villanova Attitude Award. Graduate student
Jermaine Samuels was the Jake Nevin Award winner while
Caleb Daniels earned the Alexander Severance Award. The Paul Arizin Award went to senior forward
Brandon Slater.Â
Former Wildcat Greg Woodward '92 received the Alumni Appreciation Award. The Joseph Walters Special Recognition Award went to Joe and Maureen Topper.Â
Student manager Anthony Flynn received the Teresa and Joseph J. Martini '61 Endowed Scholarship from the award's namesake, Randy Foye. Fellow student manager Race DePenti was named the recipient of the Christopher M. Dincuff Memorial Scholarship.
The Nova Nation Award went to Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations
Brian Anderson and Master HVAC Technician Eric Bascelli.
Villanova finished the season 30-8 and 16-4 in the BIG EAST. The Wildcats won the BIG EAST Tournament and advanced to the Final Four.Â
