Villanova, Pa.- The Villanova men's lacrosse team will travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to take on the Marquette Golden Eagles on Saturday afternoon. First faceoff is scheduled for 12:00 P.M. ET/11:00 A.M. CT and can be seen on Marquette's YouTube channel.
A Look at Villanova: The Wildcats are coming off a 18-13 win against Providence last weekend on Senior Day.
Luke Keating earned BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week honors after finishing with a game high seven points on four goals and three assists.
Justin Coppola had a career best day at the faceoff x winning 21 faceoffs and having 15 ground balls.
Villanova's Offense: Matt Campbell leads the Wildcats with 51 points. The senior has 35 goals and 16 assists on the season through 11 games. Last weekend Campbell picked up five points on a pair of goals and three assists. Graduate transfers
Luke Keating and
Brett Baskin both have over 40 points this season for the Wildcats. Keating leads the team in assists with 25 while Baskin is second on the team in goals with 26.
Villanova's Defense: Coppola, who currently ranks 7
th in the country in faceoff winning percentage, is 181-for-293 (.618) this season from the center x with 105 ground balls. The Wildcat defense ranks fourth in caused turnovers per game averaging 10.36. SSDM
Chet Comizio leads the Wildcats with 20 caused turnovers this season while
Brody LaPorte has 18. Last weekend LaPorte had five caused turnover, a career best for the senior.
Will Vitton picked up his seventh win of the season against the Friars. The senior keeper has a .485 save percentage and 11.60 goals against average in just over 636 minutes between the posts.
A Look at Marquette: The Golden Eagles are 4-8 overall and 2-1 in BIG EAST play. Marquette defeated Providence and St. John's to open league play and fell to Georgetown last weekend 20-10. Bobby O'Grady leads the team with 41 goals this season while Will Foster has 12 assists. Luke Williams has been the primary FOG for Marquette this season. The redshirt sophomore is 111-for-193 (.575) with a team high 58 ground balls. Redshirt freshman Michael Allieri has played over 782 minutes in goal this season and has a 12.44 goals against average and .497 save percentage.
