Anthony Prokurat (Manalapan, N.J.) went to a third set to win his match at No. 5 singles and Villanova (3-12) won three of the final four matches to be completed despite a narrow 4-3 loss to Marquette (6-13) at the West Campus Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon. Prokurat, senior

Ryan Nguyen (Oakton, Va.) were all singles winners in the bottom half of the lineup.
The matches at No. 3 singles and No. 5 singles each went to a third set with the Golden Eagles holding a slim 3-2 lead in the team score. Marquette won the doubles point and each of the singles matches in the top two spots in the lineup, but Jones (No. 4) and Nguyen (No. 6) each posted wins to get the Wildcats back into the match. Jones defeated Ian Brady in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-4, while Nguyen outlasted Pablo Dale to for a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 victory.
Jones and Nguyen each tallied their 16
th wins of the year and their fifth in dual matches during the Spring season. With the score still 3-2, the Golden Eagles clinched the team result when the match at No. 3 singles was completed. Villanova freshman
Trey Fourticq (Los Angeles, Calif.) faced Marquette upperclassman Rami Scheetz and was dealt a 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 loss. That match had already ended when Prokurat closed the day with a 6-, 6-7 (3), 6-2 decision against Will Tennison in the No. 5 singles match.
Earlier in the afternoon the Wildcats fell in the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches as the Golden Eagles scored the first point of the day. The match at No. 3 doubles was not completed, although the sophomore duo of
Josh Robinson (Potomac, Md.) and
Noah Winton (Columbia, Mo.) was leading 5-3 against Tennison and Shaddy Khalafallah.
Villanova is back at home on Saturday to host Duquesne for a 2 p.m. match.
