Cole Earns Spot on BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

The graduate pitcher allowed just two runs in eight innings of action

NEW YORK -- Following a strong showing in a pair of starts this past week, Jonathan Cole received a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced on Monday.

Cole's first BIG EAST weekly accolade marks the third straight week that a Wildcat has been named to the list and the eighth overall. He is the fifth pitcher to earn the distinction this season.

This past week brought the first two starting appearances of the year for the righthander in games against Saint Joseph's and No. 5 Virginia Tech. He pitched eight innings through the two contests, scattering nine hits with two runs allowed and seven strikeouts. He allowed just one extra base hit on the week, posting a 2.25 ERA with batters hitting .281 against him.

On Sunday, the Cherry Hill, N.J. native tossed six innings against Virginia Tech, marking his longest outing of the season. He allowed one run in the first inning before holding the Hokies scoreless for the next five innings, fanning five along the way for a new season-high in strikeouts.

Cole and the 'Cats are back in action on Tuesday as they head to Monmouth. First pitch with the Hawks is set for 1:30 p.m.
