VILLANOVA, Pa.- The second day of the annual Villanova Invitation was an intense day of play for the Wildcats resulting in three Villanova teams advancing to the third round.

Villanova had three teams competing in the Blue Draw where they all battled it out on the court with only one team advancing to the third round.

The team of junior captain
Josh Robinson and sophomore
Trey Fourticq were the lone members of the Wildcat pack to advance in the Blue Draw in a 2-1 win over Colgate's Max Litton and Tejas Gupta. The pair of Wildcats took the win doubles through a tie breaker (7-6 (2)). Robinson fell to Litton in a singles tie breaker (9-8 (5)) but Fourticq made easy work of Gupta with a singles win (6-1, 6-2) sealing their spot in the third round.

Both Wildcat teams of junior
Ryan Nguyen and senior
Justin Suarez and freshman
Tighe Brunetti and
Cooper Gordon fell in their matches (3-0). Nguyen and Suarez put up a fight against Lehigh's Marc Bleckman and Jason Morash but ultimately were bested in doubles (6-3) and singles (Nguyen/Bleckman (8-6) and Suarez/Morash (6-1, 6-0)). Brunetti and Gordon went straight into singles against Lehigh's Matt Kleiman and Jeremy Learner but both were taken down towards the end of their battles (Brunetti/Kleiman (8-2) and Gordan/Learner (6-1, 6-4)).

In the White Draw both Villanova teams advanced to the third round. The team of senior captain
Will Gatti and junior
Noah Winton competed for the first time in the invitational due to the fact they had a bye in the first round. Gatti and Winton had a strong start defeating Bucknell's Michael Owen/Gui Padhilla in doubles (6-2). Winton defeated Owen in singles (8-5) and Gatti defeated Padhilla in singles (6-0, 6-0) taking the series of games 3-0 to advance to the third round.

Villanova's team of senior
Alex Kim and
Lukas Choi faced off against Colgate's Michael Weitz/John Fazli and swept the series 3-0 starting with a doubles win (6-2). Kim defeated Weitz in singles (6-1, 6-3) and Choi defeated Fazli in singles (6-2, 6-3) to clench a spot in the third round.
The third round matches pick up at 9 a.m. on Sunday on what will be a full slate of action at the Villanova Tennis Complex.
