CHICAGO, Ill. – An MRI confirmed sophomore guard
Jordan Longino, who was injured in Villanova's 73-57 victory over Georgetown last week, suffered a strained left hamstring late in the first half. He will receive treatment and his status will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
Â
"Jordan's been dealt a tough hand with injuries this season," said Villanova head coach
Kyle Neptune. "But he continues to demonstrate a great attitude that will carry him through this recovery."
Â
Longino saw his 2021-22 season end abruptly when he suffered a knee injury that required surgery after the BIG EAST Tournament. The native of Doylestown, Pa., missed time in the preseason with left knee soreness. When the season began, Longino played all 15 games before suffering the injury last Wednesday night. He was not in uniform on Saturday when the Wildcats met Xavier.
Â
Over 15 games the 6-5 guard has averaged 24.2 minutes and 6.2 points per game. Longino is with the Wildcats on its two-game road trip that begins Tuesday night at DePaul (9 p.m./CBS Sports Network).
