PRINCETON, N.J.- The Wildcats fell on the road to Princeton in a tough 7-0 loss for their spring season opener.
The match kicked off with doubles. The sophomore duo of
Emma Brogan and and
Valieriia Kornieva took on Daria Frayman and Neha Velaga at the number one spot. They fell short with a 6-1 defeat.

At the number two position was the pair of freshman
Maggie Gehrig and
Emi Callahan who faced Maia Sung and Grace Joyce. The pair were also overpowered taking the 6-1 loss.

The team of senior captains
Amanda Rivera-González and
Caitlin Fisher went head-to-head with Leena Bennetto and Zoe Howard losing a 6-1 battle on court three.

Princeton claimed the first team point of the match.

Starting off at number one singles was Brogan to take on previous competitor Frayman. Frayman was dominant in their match up taking a 6-0, 6-0 win over the Wildcat.

Gehrig took on Princeton's Velaga at the two spot and fought hard ultimately falling in a 6-2, 6-3 loss.

The Ukraine native, Kornieva was taken down by Howard in their head-to-head in a 6-2, 6-0 defeat.

The biggest battle of the day came from the freshman Callahan who went up against Bennetto in the four spots. Callahan forced Bennetto into tie breaker in the first set and a close fight in the second but fell just short with the 7-6 (4), 7-5 loss.

Rivera-González defeated Sung in 6-0, 6-2 defeat. Junior
Bella Steffen was also bested by Joyce with a similar 6-1, 6-0 loss.

A tough start to the season with the 7-0 team loss to the Tigers. The Wildcats return to action on Sunday January 29 to take on Morgan State at 2 pm hosted by Navy.
