VILLANOVA, Pa.— The Wildcats competed hard at the Navy Invite.
Singles
Maggie Gehrig and
Ami Grace Dougah competed in the A flight singles. Gehrig fell in her round of 16 matchup. Dougah won her first matchup 6-4, 7-6, but fell in the next round.
Valieriia Kornieva and
Miriam Gondorova competed in B flight singles. Gondorova picked up a first-round win (6-2, 6-3), but fell in round two. Kornieva would lose her first-round match but would bounce back. She would go on to win all her matches in the consolation stage and win the final round 6-4, 6-1 over the player who beat Gondorova earlier.
Emma Brogan fell in her first-round matchup in C flight singles.
Lauren Monti and
Maddie Hills competed in the D flight singles. Hills lost a hard fought first round matchup in the main draw. She would battle back though by winning two straight in the consolation draw. She would fall in a close matchup however in the final round. Monti had a great performance in the main draw. She won her first three matchups to make it to the final round. She lost her in the final however 6-4, 6-2.
Amanda Rivera,
Chloe Floyd, and Isabella Steffen competed in the E flight singles. Rivera had a bye in the main draw for round one and won her quarterfinals matchup 6-0, 6-3. She fell in the semifinals, however. Floyd fell in the quarterfinals of the main draw but would go far in the consolation. She made it all the way to the semifinals of the consolation before falling 6-4, 6-4. Steffen would also fall in the quarterfinals of the main draw. She also had a good performance in the consolation. Steffen won all three matchups in the consolation including a hard-fought finals win (7-6, 6-2).
Doubles
The Wildcats had two duos competing in the A flight doubles.
Bella Steffen and
Emma Brogan fell in their first-round matchup 6-3. Amanda Rivera and
Ami Grace Dougah lost a tough battle 7(8)-6(6) in their first-round matchup.
Three teams competed in the B flight doubles.
Maddie Hills and
Miriam Gondorova had a great performance. They won their first-round matchup easily with a 6-2 victory. They followed that up with a quarterfinals victory of 6-4 but feel in the semifinals in a battle 6-3.
Valieriia Kornieva and
Maggie Gehrig won a tiebreaker in round one to advance but fell in the quarterfinals.
Chloe Floyd and
Lauren Monti would fall in their round one matchup.
