PROVIDENCE, RI. — Villanova competed in the Brown Classic.
The Wildcats took on three teams in matches in this two-day event, URI, Dartmouth and Yale.
Villanova vs URI
There were three match ups in doubles play.
Ami Grace Dougah and Amanda Rivera-Gonzalez defeated Sophie Herrman and Valentina Cvackova 6-3. The freshman duo of
Miriam Gondorova and
Lauren Monti would fall in their doubles match 7-5 against Nadia Rajan and Nikki Fernando. Junior
Valieriia Kornieva and freshman
Jenna Stevens dominated their doubles match 6-2 over Ava Grnja and Steph Hylton.
Five Wildcats picked up singles victories against URI: Dougah (4-3, 4-1), Gondorova (4-0, 4-2), Stevens (4-2, 2-4, 1-0), Monti (4-1, 4-3) and
Maddie Hills (4-3, 2-4, 1-0). Kornieva would fall in her singles match in a hard-fought battle that went to a tiebreaker.
Villanova vs. Yale
The Wildcats three doubles pairings were Dougah and Gondorova, Kornieva and Rivera-Gonzalez, and Hills and Monti. All three pairings fell in their doubles matchups.
In the five singles matches, Villanova was not able to pick up any victories.
Villanova vs. Dartmouth
Rivera and Kornieva won their doubles match 6-3 over Ameliija Swaffer-Selff and Caroline Lemcke. Dougah and Gondorova and Hills and Monti fell in their match up.
Ami Grace Dougah was the solo singles winner for the Wildcats in a win over Katie Weber (4-1,4-1).
