LYNCHBURG, Va.—Villanova (7-5, 3-1) fell 6-0 to No. 10 Liberty (11-1, 4-0) on Friday afternoon.
The Flames converted on multiple penalty corners and a stroke to take a 4-0 lead into halftime. The Wildcats recorded six penalty corners in the first half leading to shots from
Sabine de Ruijter and
Emma Schwarz.
Liberty continued their momentum into the second half scoring two more goals to win 6-0. The Flames were led by six players with a goal apiece. Goalkeeper Azul Iritxity Irigoyen recorded five saves in the shutout victory.
The Wildcats were led by de Ruijter who recorded three shots on goal. Villanova returns to action on Sunday, October 8
th when they take on Penn for senior day at the Conshohocken Proving Grounds. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
