VILLANOVA, Pa. – After securing its first win of the season on Saturday over Mercyhurst, Villanova kicks off nearly two months of road action as it heads to Lewisburg, Pa. for the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the Kinney Natatorium.

Villanova (1-4) used a balanced effort on Saturday to take down Mercyhurst, holding the Lakers to no more than three goals in a period including one allowed in the second quarter. Emily McKenzie led the team with a career-high five goals that day. Gracin Kerry picked up the win in net in her collegiate debut, allowing just three goals on 11 saves.

The 'Cats are set to take on three opponents this weekend, starting with a doubleheader on Saturday. Villanova faces Salem (1-0) at 12:30 p.m. before a nightcap against No. 14 Princeton (4-1) at 6:46 p.m.

There have been 16 previous meetings between Villanova and Salem with Villanova holding a 10-6 lead in the series. Last year, the two sides faced off three times with Salem winning two of those meetings. The series with Princeton has been an extensive one that dates back to 1998 with the Tigers winning each of the 38 games in the series.

Sunday brings one game for Nova as it faces the hosting Bison at 10:30 a.m. This will be the first meeting with Bucknell since 2018 when the teams met in the Bruno Classic. Villanova has not seen a win in the series since March 23, 2002 when it won 10-8 at the Villanova Invitational.
