BALTIMORE, Md.- The Wildcats made their way to Baltimore to take on Loyola and took a huge 6-1 victory for their fourth win on the season.
 
The match began with Villanova taking No. 1 and 3 doubles over Loyola. The freshman doubles team of Emi Callahan and Maggie Gehrig defeated Lauren Manwiller and Christine Richiez 6-3 at No.1 doubles. Sophmore Valieriia Kornieva and senior captain Amanda Rivera-González had a close 7-6 win over Taylor Kuncl and Addison Kemerer to claim the first team point of the match in favor of the Wildcats.
 
At No.1 singles was Emma Brogan who had a tough battle with Oliva Tracey losing the first set 7-5 but coming back for the 6-4 second set win to force a third set tie breaker that Brogan took 6-4. Callahan was bested in the No.2 spot by Manwiller in the 6-4, 6-2 loss. Gehrig also had a close match, similar to Brogan's, against Richiez falling in the first set 7-5, taking the second 6-3, and taking the point after a 6-3 third set tie breaker win. Kornieva had a short back and forth with opponent Liza Tankimovich at No.4 singles taking the first set 6-1 but falling in the second set 6-1. The point came down to the third set tiebreaker which Kornieva took in a 6-3 result. Bella Steffen was in the No.5 spot to face off with Katie Moorhead and made quick work for Moorhead in a 6-2, 6-2 win. At No. 6 singles was Rivera-González who downed Kuncl in 6-4, 6-4 style. The Wildcats claimed the match 6-1 over the Greyhounds to snag their fourth win on the year.
 
The Wildcats return to action on Saturday April 1 when the head to Storrs, Conn. to take on UConn. Match time is set for 1:30 pm.
