Wildcats Fall on the Road to the Blue Hens

NEWARK, De— Villanova earned its first defeat of the season as they fell 8-0 to Delaware on Friday evening.

Not much went right for Villanova as it was all Blue Hens from start to finish. Morgan Bradford opened the scoring nearly three minutes into the contest followed by two quick goals from Noelle Sabbagh. The Blue Hens led 4-0 after the first quarter.

The Wildcats looked to build momentum early in the second quarter as Meghan Mitchell saw her scoring opportunity saved by Blue Hen goalkeeper Kylie Walbert. Later in the period Sabine de Ruijter was denied off a penalty corner. But Delaware added three more goals to grow the lead to 7-0 at halftime.

Freshman goalkeeper Maddi Sears recorded her first career save in the third quarter. Hannah Barsky picked up a defensive save late in the quarter on a great hustle play to save a goal.

Delaware added another goal in the second half to make the score 8-0. Kiki Oudshoorn, Morgan Bradford, and Neolle Sabbagh all finished with two goals for the Blue Hens.

Villanova returns to action Sunday, September 3rd vs. Longwood.
