VILLANOVA, Pa .--The Wildcats continued their best start in program history winning 18-8 against Gannon to wrap up the Villanova Invitational. 11 players found the back of the net for the 'Cats and the team combined for 15 assists, tied for fourth in program history for a single game.
"The team played great this weekend. It was a team effort in all four games, they did everything I could ask of them," said coach Michael Gordon who remains undefeated as a head coach. "We just want to keep this energy going. The team is playing very well and we are going to keep that losing thought out of our heads."
It took just over a minute for
Anna Painter to put the 'Cats up 1-0 and the team did not look back after that leading 5-1 after the first quarter and 12-2 at halftime.
Lauren Short,
Emmie Mallory, and
Ella Mattocks led the 'Cats with three goals apiece. 15 of 18 Villanova goals were assisted.
Tiffany Maguire, Tee Parris,
Stella Byles, and
Emma Grabenstetter each recorded multiple assists.
The Wildcats are back in action next weekend when they travel to Lexington, Virginia to play in the VMI Tournament.
