SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – Villanova falls in game one of the series to Incarnate Word 12-7.
The bats were hot for both teams to start the game as the score was 3-3 through three innings. The Cardinals bats however would continue to stay hot giving them a 10-4 lead through sixth. The Wildcats would battle back but the early lead by Incarnate Word would be too much for them to handle, falling 12-7.

- Freshman Trent Toole went 3 for 4 with two RBIs, a stolen base, and three runs in his college debut.
- Transfer Dylan Dennis would record two hits (one double) and two runs in his first game as a Wildcat.

How It Happened
- The Cardinals would start the scoring off with a 2-run home run in the first.
- Trent Toole responds with a single to right driving in two runners to tie the score in the 2nd.
- After Incarnate would take a 3-2 lead, Villanova would tie it up and take the lead in the third inning. John Whooley laid down the bunt to tie the game and Mike Whooley hit a sacrifice fly to take the 4-3 lead.
- The Cardinals would score seven unscored runs before the Wildcats would pick up two runs in the sixth inning to make the score 10-6.
- Another two-run home run for the Cardinals in the seventh to lead 12-6.
- Josue Valdez scored on a John Whooley ground out to make it 12-7 in the ninth.
