SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – Villanova gives up two-run lead in the eight and lose 7-6 to Incarnate Word.
A similar start to game one yesterday as the bats were hot to start for Villanova, sourcing to a 3-0 lead in the first. The response from the Cardinals did not come until the bottom of the second where they would score two runs. The Wildcats would extend their lead 4-2 in the top of the third, but that would not last long. After a run in the bottom of the third, a walk would allow the leading run to score and give the Cardinals a 5-4 lead. A solo home run for the Wildcats would even the score in the fourth. After two scoreless innings, an error by Incarnate Word would give the lead back to Villanova, 6-5 in the seventh. The lead would not last long as a two-run single in the eighth would give the Cardinals the lead back and they did not give it back.
