Villanova Drops Both Games In Doubleheader

FAIRFAX, VA – Wildcats drop both games in doubleheader by a combined two runs.

Game 1

George Mason 6 – Villanova 5

In game one it was a back-and-forth affair.  The Patriots got going early with two RBI doubles in the first inning. Villanova was able to respond in the second inning as Aidian Barry singled to right field, scoring Cam Hassert.  The Wildcats were able to tie the game up in the inning after a fielder's choice scored Trent Toole.  George Mason scored the next three runs and took a 5-2 lead going into the fifth inning.  A late comeback for Villanova began in the fifth inning as Scott Shaw was able to score after a Cam Hassert ground out making the score 5-3.  The rally continued as a SAC fly by Jason Neff scored Jack O'Reilly and an RBI single from Dylan Dennis scoring the tying run.  In the bottom of the ninth George Mason won on a walk off wild pitch.

Game 2

George Mason 3 – Villanova 2 (7 innings)

Game two was a different story as the rain started to fall and the hits were hard to come by.  Scott Shaw opened the scoring with a single up the middle scoring Jack O'Reilly.  The Patriots answered in the bottom of the first with one run. Two runs off a double in the third gave George Mason a 3-1 lead.  Villanova scored one more run in the sixth after Scott Shaw doubled to center scoring AJ Hansen
