FAIRFAX, VA – Villanova avoids the sweep in Virginia winning game three 9-2 over George Mason.
 
The bats started off slow for Villanova as George Mason took the 2-0 lead into the fourth inning.  After that it would be all Wildcats as they would score in four straight innings.   The runs would come in all different ways as a SAC fly and singles would start the scoring off followed by a home run and a balk. A convincing 9-2 score would be the final for Villanova.
 
Nova Notes

• Jason Neff smacked a home run in the sixth inning, his fourth of the year.  He finished with one hit and three RBI.
• Sophomore Michael Whooley and Freshman Trent Toole were the two wildcats to record two hits. Whooley also added in two hits.
• Stater Luke McCollough picks up his second win of the season. McCollough held George Mason to five hits, two runs and struck out five in five innings of work.

 
How It Happened

• Connor Dykstra hit a two-run home run in the third inning to give the Patriots a 2-0 lead.
• Dylan Dennis hit a Sac fly which scored Jason Neff in the top of the fourth, 2-1.
• Collin Quintano singled through the left side, scoring Michael Whooley and Cam Hassert, 3-2.
• In the fifth Michael Whooley singled to the catcher scoring Dylan Dennis and Jason Neff.  5-2 Wildcats in the fifth,
• Jason Neff hit a two-run home run in the sixth, 8-2.
• Trent Toole scored on a balk, 9-2 Villanova.
