Wildcats Storm Past The Waves 7-2

MALIBU, CALIF. – Villanova jacks three home runs in Malibu to defeat Pepperdine 7-2 in game one.
 
Through the first four innings the runs were hard to come by.  Going into the fifth Villanova led 1-0.  In the fifth is where the bats began to wake up as Villanova scored three runs including a two-run homerun. The Waves would respond with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. From that point on the Wildcats had control of the game adding two more home runs in the ninth, winning 7-2.
 
Nova Notes
  • Jason Neff hit a three-run home run, his first home run as a Wildcat. Neff finished the game with two hits and three RBI.
  • Scott Shaw and Jack O'Reilly hit back-to-back home runs in the ninth.  This puts both of their totals to three on the year and a tie for the most on the team.
  • Alec Sachais pitched in relief for two innings.  He recorded four strikeouts, allowing one hit and no runs.
  • AJ Hansen extends his hit streak to four games after getting a hit today.
  • Pitcher Rian Schwede picks up his first victory of the season.

  • In the third, Cam Hassert scored on an error by the center, 1-0.
  • Jason Neff hit a three-run home run in the fifth, 4-0 Wildcats.
  • Connor Walsh singled up the middle, scoring Luke Pemberton in the fifth, 4-1.
  • Waves scored another in the fifth with Beckett Vine scoring on fielder's choice, 4-2.
  • Jack O'Reilly and Scott Shaw hit back-to-back home runs in the ninth, 7-2.
