NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Following the Villanova women's lacrosse team's first win in BIG EAST play, a pair of players picked up a weekly honor from the league.
Rose Christie earned the conference's Freshman of the Week and junior
Sami Carey received mention to the honor roll.
Christie secured her first career laurel as the midfielder's fingerprints were all over Villanova's road victory with the New York native contributing three points and a pair of ground balls on the day. The freshman's two assists marked a career high and made it her second multi-point affair as a collegian.
Carey saw her name on the honors for the first time this season as the Rochester native totaled five points in Saturday's BIG EAST victory over Butler, putting forth two goals and a team-best three assists in VU's opening conference win. The junior's 18 assists this year are two times the next highest Wildcat with four performances of multiple helpers.
The 'Cats are back in action on Wednesday afternoon, squaring off against the Connecticut Huskies at 1:00 p.m. from Storrs.
