SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – Villanova takes game one on the road in New Jersey, 3-1 over Seton Hall
The Villanova pitching staff has been playing well over the last week and it carried over to New Jersey. As a team the Wildcats held the Pirates to six hits, two walks and striking out six.
Runs were hard to come by for both teams as a scoreless game would go on until the third inning. With bases loaded, a hit by pitch put Villanova on the board 1-0. It took until the sixth inning for Seton Hall to score a run. In the sixth, an RBI single to right field would be the only score of the game for the Pirates. Villanova responded in the next inning with an RBI single of their own to make the score 2-1. A solo home run in the eighth would give the Wildcats an insurance run (3-1) and that was all they needed as the strong pitching rolled on.
