PRINCETON, N.J.—Junior thrower
Faith Haught (Payson, Ariz.) and first year triple jumper
Gina Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa.) tallied personal best marks in their respective events as Villanova wrapped up two days of competition at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The event schedule at Weaver Stadium featured the 100 meters along with the high jump, the triple jump, the shot put and the discus.
Haught moved up three spots on Villanova's all-time performance list in the discus with a PR of 47.69 meters. That throw came on her first attempt of the day and moved Haught into fifth place in the Wildcats record book. She also surges into third place on this year's BIG EAST performance list with Saturday's result.
Fifth year collegian
Adria Retter (Quakertown, Pa.) is currently second on the BIG EAST list in the discus (49.44m) with a mark recorded in the season opener at UCF last month. Retter competed in two events on Saturday, producing a distance of 46.98 meters in the discus and throwing 12.46 meters in the shot put.
One other personal best was recorded on the day despite cool and blustery conditions during the meet. Smith recorded a distance of 11.34 meters in the triple jump on her third and final attempt. The newcomer on this year's Villanova roster previously had a PR of 11.28 meters from her collegiate debut at the Wildcats indoor home meet. She went on to compete in her signature event at the indoor BIG EAST Championships.
Junior high jumper
Taylor Woodeshick (Nescopeck, Pa.) cleared the bar at 1.58 meters to tie for a sixth place finish on Saturday, while first year sprinter
Djoonicka Buissereth (North Babylon, N.Y.) posted a time of 13.04 in the 100 meters.
