A Trio Of Home Runs Lifts Villanova Over Creighton 13-6

PLYMOUTH MEETING – Villanova takes game two at Villanova Ballpark, 13-6 over Creighton.
 
The Wildcat began the day hot and had control all day long.

Villanova wanted to get the sour taste of yesterday's game out of their mouth quickly and they did. A three-run RBI double in the first for Villanova showed Creighton that today was going to be different.  In the second inning the Wildcats exploded for six runs from great base running and hitting take an early 9-0 lead.
 
Multiple times in the game the Blue Jays made an attempt at a comeback by getting on the board, and every time Villanova answered in a big way.
 
Going into the bottom of the fourth, the Wildcats just gave up 2 runs in the top of the inning.  A solo homer to center field for Villanova stopped the Creighton momentum in its tracks to take the score to 10-2. 
 
Another two-run inning from Creighton in the fifth brought them closer, 10-4. Villanova responded with another solo homer, 11-4.
 
A final comeback attempt by the Blue Jays started with two runs in the seventh making it a 10-6 ball game. Villanova put that to rest with a two-run home run to put the dagger on game two, 12-6.

How It Happened
  • In the bottom of the first, Michael Whooley hit a three-RBI double to left center, scoring O'Reilly, Dennis and Neff, 3-0 Wildcats.
  • Jack O'Reilly grounded out to third base scoring AJ Hansen in the second, 4-0.
  • Scott Shaw singled to left center in the second, scoring Dennis, 5-0.
  • Shaw scored on a Jason Neff double down the left field line in the second, 6-0.
  • In the second inning, Shane Solari hit a three-RBI double to right center, 9-0.
  • Maclean in the fourth hit a double to left center scoring Sailors, 9-1.
  • Canales doubled down the left field line scoring Maclean, 9-2 in the fourth.
  • In the bottom of the fourth, Josue Valdez hit a solo home run to center field, 10-2.

  • Jack O'Reilly homered to left field in the bottom of the eighth scoring Dennis, 13-6.
