VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova kicks off a two-weeklong road trip this weekend, starting with a trek up to Providence, R.I., to compete in the Bruno Classic hosted by Brown University.
The Wildcats enter play in Rhode Island with a 4-0 record, coming off of a weekend where they outscored opponents 62-23, and with two players,
Gracin Kerry and
Riley Hull, earning MAAC weekly awards.
The last time that the Wildcats competed in this tournament was 2019. They went winless in games against Bucknell, Hartwick, and Brown.
VU will play four games across Saturday and Sunday, with times very similar to their schedule from this past week's Wildcat Invite, making them no stranger to a quick turnaround.
The 'Cats start off the weekend against #24 University of the Pacific at 11:20 A.M.. They will be the Tigers' first test of 2025 aside from an exhibition loss to Michigan. This will be the team's first matchup since 2011.
The second game of the day takes place at 3:20 P.M. against MAAC foe, Marist University, who received votes in the latest AWPWC poll. The Red Foxes have also yet to officially compete in 2025 but will have games against Indiana and the University of the Redlands under their belt by the time they face off against VU.
Day two will start at 11:00 A.M. against Salem University, a team that the Wildcats hold a career 7-2 neutral site record against. They last competed against each other in 2023 at Mercyhurst's Curtis Robinette Memorial Invite, where the Wildcats came out on top 16-7. The Tigers played four matches last week at Indiana's Indiana Classic, finishing 1-3, allowing at least 15 goals in each loss.
Villanova will finish up their time in Providence at 3:15 P.M. facing the home team, #23 Brown University. The Bears have yet to play in 2025, making the experienced Wildcats eager to pick up their first win against Brown since 2016.
