HAMDEN, Conn. – The Villanova field hockey team will be on the road this weekend as they take on BIG EAST opponent Quinnipiac Friday, October 17 at 1:00 p.m., and Drexel Sunday, October 19 at 12:00 p.m.
Villanova dropped both games a week ago while they were at home, falling to Old Dominion and Penn. The 'Cats fell at home to the Monarchs by a score of 4-1. The game was tied after the first frame with graduate student
Ava Borkowski tying the contest by tallying her seventh goal of the season. ODU pulled away in the second half and VU fell 4-1. On Sunday, the 'Cats were locked into tight defensive battle with the Quakers. Penn broke the deadlock in the second half and that was enough to secure the close 1-0 victory.
Quinnipiac is 8-5 in the season and currently on a three-game winning streak. The Bobcats began the season with back-to-back- victories over Holy Cross and Bucknell. Their first loss came to the hands of Maine in overtime, falling 2-1. Other losses that the Bobcats have suffered have come from Boston, Liberty, Old Dominion, and Temple. During this three game win streak, Quinnipiac defeated Wagner, Providence, and Lafayette. A season ago, VU took down Quinnipiac at home, 4-2. The 'Cats had 27 shots in the game and

Drexel has gotten off to a 7-6 record through their 13 games of the 2025 campaign. The Dragons began the season going 1-2, with two losses against Lafayette and Indiana and had an opening day win over Central Michigan. A few other notable teams that Drexel has fallen too have been #13 Monmouth, Penn, and Temple. Similar to the 'Cats, Drexel upset #20 Saint Joseph's by a close score of 3-2. The Dragons also defeated La Salle and Hofstra on the road to add to their win total. The Dragons got the best of Villanova a season ago, by a tight score of 3-2.
