MERION STATION, Pa.- The Villanova University men's tennis team will compete in their second fall competition this weekend at Saint Jospeh's starting October 3
rd and ending on October 5
th.
Villanova turned in a strong showing last weekend at the Lehigh Invitational. Junior
Ethan Carr and freshman
Ethan Solop led the way for the Wildcats, going undefeated across their matches. In singles play, the team delivered a commanding 7–2 victory over Lafayette in the third round. Earlier, in round two, Villanova battled Lehigh to a 6–6 draw, with
Cooper Gordon,
Justin Frattarelli, Carr, Solop,
Cameron Kruep, and
Ryan Benoit each earning wins.
In doubles action, the Wildcats opened with a 3–1 win over Lafayette in the first round and later added a 4–2 victory in round three. The pairing of
Thomas Wakefield and
Kush Anand earned a decisive 6–3 win, while
Quincy Jones and
Jack Sherner cruised to a 6–2 result. The teams of Solop/Krup and Benoit/
Evan Ancu each posted 6–3 wins to seal the effort.
For the draws,
Cooper Gordon is set to play Friday at 11:00 a.m. for the SF Hawk Hill category.
Quincy Jones,

Justin Frattarelli, and
Kush Anand all play in the SF Gray category on Friday.
Jack Sherner,
Ethan Solop,
Cameron Kruep, and
Evan Ancu will be in the SF Black drawing.
Ryan Benoit will finish the singles drawing on Friday in the SF White round. The duos Frattarelli/Gordon and Anand/Carr will be playing in the DF Crimson round. VU will have three duos in the DF Gray drawing of Jones/Sherner, Ancu/Benoit, and Kruep/Solop.
