VILLANOVA, Pa. – This weekend, Water Polo will travel back up to New England to compete in the Crimson Classic. This is the first time that the Wildcats will be competing in the Blodgett Pool since 2020, when they participated in the Harvard Mini, where they fell short against Harvard and Brown.
Villanova will be taking on three ranked opponents this week in #13 University of California San Diego (UCSD), #15 University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB), and #21 Brown University. The Wildcats received one vote in this week's CWPA Week 3 Women's Varsity Poll.
Saturday at 9:00 A.M., the Wildcats will start off day one of the Crimson Classic by playing UCSD. The Tritons are 4-6 on the season and have played nine of their 10 games against ranked opponents.
To finish out the first day, Villanova will take on a team with a similar resume to them in #15 UCSB at 5:10 P.M.. The Gauchos are 7-3 with multiple high-scoring victories as well as some close losses to ranked opponents.
Sunday at 11:40 A.M. will be the second time VU will face off against Brown this season. They played to a 12-9 defeat last Sunday at the Bruno Classic, a game in which Villanova held a lead for three of the four quarters.
