PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—Villanova had four men's athletes in competition during the Penn Classic on Saturday afternoon, including sprinters
Sal Barretta (Whitestone, N.Y.) and
Matthew Griffin (Whippany, N.J.) who ran both the 200 meters and the 400 meters in the Wildcats third trip to The Ott Center this season. Junior long jumpers
Daelyn Nwaobasi (Nashville, Tenn.) and
Sanjay Persaud (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) were also in action on the day.
Barretta posted times of 22.52 in the 200 meters and 50.08 in the 400 meters, while Griffin tallied marks of 23.72 and 50.99. It was the first time this season that each of them competed in the 200 meters. Nwaobasi and Persaud recorded distances of 6.02 meters and 5.76 meters, respectively, in the long jump.
Villanova returns to action with competition at two meets in Boston next weekend.
