Wildcats Wrapped Up Competition at Virginia Challenge on Saturday Afternoon

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—One day after he recorded a personal best in the 100 meters, sophomore sprinter Parker Turner (Los Angeles, Calif.) equaled his season and lifetime PR in the 200 meters with a time of 21.38 as the Virginia Challenge wrapped up at Lannigan Field on Saturday afternoon. Turner and sixth year collegian triple jumper Kelechi Eziri (Charlotte, N.C.) were among the team's top performers in Saturday's events.

Turner was only the Wildcats second athlete to break onto the program's top 10 list in the 100 meters when he posted a time of 10.54 in Friday's preliminary heats. He was back in action for the 200 meters on Saturday and was clocked in 21.38 to equal the PR that he established at North Carolina State last month. Turner was already second on the BIG EAST performance list for the current season.

Earlier on Saturday afternoon, Eziri moved into third place in the BIG EAST with a mark of 14.27 meters in the triple jump. He got off to a fast start in the opening flight and notched his best jump on his first attempt. Eziri previously placed fifth in the triple jump at the 2024 indoor BIG EAST Championships and he tallied his best performance of the 2025 campaign in Saturday's outing.

Junior sprinter Sal Barretta (Whitestone, N.Y.) led five Villanova competitors in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 48.53. Three of the five Wildcats in action in the event went below 49 seconds, including sophomore Ethan Walls (Ridgefield, Conn.) with a time of 48.71 and junior Luke Rakowitz (Dallas, Texas) who was right behind him in 48.73. The duo of junior Jimmy Milgie (Wildwood, Mo.) and sophomore Matthew Griffin (Whippany, N.J.) tallied season best times of 49.78 and 49.94, respectively.

Rounding out the team's individual results from the day were senior sprinter Connor Dunning (Nashua, N.H.) and sophomore thrower Aiden Shay (Selinsgrove, Pa.). Dunning posted a time of 22.71 in the 200 meters and Shay threw 46.77 meters in the javelin in his long-awaited collegiate debut.

Villanova closed out the meet by posting a time of 3:16.17 in the 4x400 meter relay.
