Women's Tennis Bring Home Two Wins This Weekend

STORRS, Conn. - Villanova women's tennis grab wins over DePaul 4-3 and UConn 4-3 on Saturday and Sunday.

DePaul clenches a point in doubles competition but the Wildcats were able to pull ahead in Singles. Sophia Edwards takes the first point against No.1, taking her down 7-6,6-3. Maggie Gehrig takes on No.3 for a 6-4,6-2 win.

Miriam Gondorova ties this up with her victory over No.4 6-2,7-6. Jenna Stevens takes the Match Point with her 6-1,7-6 win against No.5.

UConn was able to claim the first match point in doubles play, the 'Cats were able to win in all with four points in Singles.

Olivia Corcoran took down No.2 6-0,6-2. Gehrig then went head to head with No.3 scoring 7-5,6-7 and winning it all in the third set 6-2.

Stevens went 6-3,6-0 over No. 5. Lauren Monti picked up the last point for the Wildcats over No.6 2-6,7-6 and securing the win in the third set 6-4.

The Wildcats will be back on the courts Thurdsay against Lafayette.
