Sandoval Receives USA Lacrosse All-American Honors

The faceoff specialist is one of eight at his position to earn the nod

SPARKS, Md. – Graduate faceoff specialist Tyler Sandoval was named a USA Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention, the organization announced on Thursday.

This is the fifth consecutive season that Villanova has landed a player on this list and the ninth in a row that they have had an All-American on the roster, dating back to 2017.

Sandoval joined the Wildcats as a transfer prior to the 2025 season after four years at Princeton, where he went 307-614 (.500%) at the center "X." He returned to action after undergoing knee surgery in the fall to put together a standout campaign.

In his lone season in the BIG EAST, the FOGO appeared in 14 games, going 114-185 (.616%) in the circle, recording his highest career winning percentage. He led the conference in win rate, as well as tallying a winning percentage over .600% in seven games (min. 10 attempts).

Sandoval tallied the seventh-best faceoff win percentage in a season in program history and holds the second-best career winning percentage among all Villanova faceoff specialists. His 14 wins also tie for 16th all-time for career wins. At the conclusion of his career, he ranks tenth nationally among faceoff specialists that played in 2025 with 421 faceoff wins.

As of the end of the regular season, Sandoval and the rest of the three-headed monster of Ryan Cunningham and George Glomb were the only trio to all win in the circle over .500% of the time while taking at least 75 faceoffs each.

Sandoval was key in the clutch for VU; he went 4/5 (.800%) on the season on faceoffs while the game was either within one goal or tied with 3:00 or less in regulation. He won one in the upset over then No. 9 Yale with 1:12 to go, the opening faceoff at then No. 20 Denver in overtime, and two against Marquette to seal a win for VU.
