FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Villanova field hockey team returns to action on Friday, Sept. 5, when it travels to University Field to face Fairfield at 4 p.m. ET.
This will be the fifth straight season the Wildcats and Stags meet. Villanova claimed a 4-3 victory on Senior Day last fall and enters Friday's matchup with a 2-2 record in the last four meetings and a 4-7 mark overall against Fairfield.
The Wildcats head into the contest following a challenging road weekend in College Park, Md., where they faced James Madison and No. 4 Maryland. Graduate student Ava Borkowski scored the team's first two goals of the season in a narrow 3-2 loss to the Dukes, while Villanova battled the nationally ranked Terrapins tough, holding them scoreless for more than two and a half quarters before falling 4-0.
Fairfield (0-2) opened the 2025 campaign with back-to-back road losses to Lafayette and No. 11 Syracuse. The Stags dropped a 2-0 decision to Lafayette after conceding both goals in the first half, then fell 5-2 to the Orange.
Friday's matchup will be streamed live on YouTube.
