UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.—Villanova throwers Maria Deaviz (Souderton, Pa.) and Jess Bentum (Deptford, N.J.) competed at the Nittany Lion Challenge at Penn State on Saturday afternoon. Deaviz tied the school record in the shot put which she set one week earlier in her Villanova debut to highlight the action for the day.
 
Deaviz matched her Wildcats record of 16.15 meters on her final throw of the day and finished first out of 21 competitors at the meet. Bentum competed in the weight throw and posted a mark of 13.11 meters.
