Two more preseason All-America nods came the way of Villanova junior
Jake Melchionni this week as he picked up the Third Team LSM spot on the Nike Lacrosse Men's DI Media All-America list on Wednesday afternoon and a Second Team accolade from the USILA preseason rankings on Friday.
It's the second and third All-America list Melchionni has appeared on heading into the 2026 season, adding to his USA Lacrosse nod from last week.
The Nike Lacrosse Media All-Americans are selected by a collection of more than a dozen voters who also vote in the weekly Media Poll. Voters submitted first, second, third and honorable mention teams; those were tallied, with players receiving the highest vote totals sorted into teams.
The USILA awards come from the governing body of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, which revealed its list on Friday just before the beginning of the regular season across the nation.
The Delbarton grad, who is switching jersey numbers from 25 to 33 this season, earned a top spot at long stick midfielder after picking up Honorable Mention All-America from a number of publications last year. The New Jersey native put up nearly 50 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers a year ago, scoring eight goals including a multi-goal outing against Marquette.
Melchionni and the Wildcats begin the season next Saturday at Penn State, starting a campaign where they're looking to return to the BIG EAST title game for a fourth time in five years.
