NEWARK, Del. – The Villanova University women's tennis team dropped a 6–1 decision on the road against Delaware on Friday, January 30, at the Delcastle Tennis Center.
The Blue Hens claimed the doubles point after edging out Villanova in two tightly contested matches. On court No. 1, the pair of
Maggie Gehrig and Callahan battled to a 7–6 loss, while Gondorova and Monti suffered a matching 7–6 defeat on court No. 3 as Delaware secured the opening point.
In singles play,
Olivia Corcoran was defeated by Hrynashka in straight sets on court No. 1, while
Maggie Gehrig fell in a three-set battle against Gorman. Junior
Miriam Gondorova earned Villanova's lone point of the match with a solid 6–4, 6–4 victory on court No. 3.
Delaware sealed the match with straight-set wins on courts four, five, and six. Vadland topped Stevens, Veinhraddva bested Monti, and Akselrod defeated Kornyeva to clinch the overall victory.
