ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Villanova hits the road for the first time this year to face No. 10 Navy on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats then return home to host Saint Joseph's on Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Villanova Stadium.
Coming off a 15-6 win over Towson in its season opener, Villanova (1-0) looks to build momentum in a two-game stretch. Bella Piselli and Kathryn Monaco each recorded a hat trick, while Madison Freeman and Leslie Iorio scored twice. Elena Torres added two goals and two assists.
In her collegiate debut, first-year midfielder Kate O'Neill tied a program single-game record with six caused turnovers and also collected six ground balls.
Saturday's opponent Navy is coming off a 12-10 win at No. 15 Virginia. Seniors Maggie DeFabio, Ava Yovino and Emma Kennedy combined to score seven of the Midshipmen's 12 goals.
Last season, Villanova fell to Navy 17-16 to give the Mids an 8-3 advantage in the all-time series. Torres led the Wildcats with four goals and six points in the contest and Emma Verhoest dominated the draw controls, winning 16 of the team's 24 and tying her own program record at the time.
On Tuesday, the 'Cats will host their Philadelphia rival, Saint Joseph's. Villanova defeated the Hawks 14-10 at home on Feb. 12, 2025 but SJU leads the all-time series 15-13.
St. Joe's dropped a close 12-9 decision to Temple on Wednesday afternoon. Megan Sanelli and Alexa Capozzoli each scored two goals, while Kate Furhman added a goal and a game-high three assists.
