'Cats Fall To FIU On The Road On Saturday

VU Drops Game 13-3 To FIU

MIAMI, Fla. – The Villanova University baseball team fell in its second game of the season to Florida International University on Saturday, February 14, by a score of 13–3.

FAST START FOR THE 'CATS
Villanova's offense carried early momentum into Saturday's contest. Freshman Jack Roventini stole two bases to reach third, and redshirt sophomore Austin Lemon brought him home with a sacrifice fly in the opening inning.
After FIU went down in order in the bottom half, the Wildcats added to their lead in the second. Following a single to right field by Carter Richey, senior Collin Quintano launched a two-run home run to give Villanova a 3–0 advantage after two innings.

FIU RESPONDS
The Panthers broke through in the second inning, beginning with a solo home run by Reyes. Later in the frame, a two-RBI single from Rivera tied the game, and FIU added three more runs to take a 6–3 lead.
FIU extended its advantage in the fourth inning, scoring seven runs, highlighted by a three-run homer from Trivella, pushing the score to 13–3. Neither team scored after the fourth inning, with all 13 Panther runs coming in the second and fourth frames.

FAST JACK
Despite the loss, Roventini continued to impress with patience at the plate and speed on the bases, drawing two walks and stealing three bases. His aggressive baserunning helped set up Villanova's first run of the game.

SOLID RELIEF WORK
Villanova's bullpen held FIU scoreless over the final innings. Sophomore Matthew Kahn struck out four batters across just over two innings while allowing only one hit. Ryan Conrad made his collegiate debut with a scoreless inning, surrendering one hit and recording one strikeout.
