LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Villanova water polo team completed a weekend sweep of its games at the Bucknell Invite Sunday after defeating Siena 17-12.
The 'Cats (7-4) three-game win streak is their highest of the season and they have won five of their last six.
Emmie Mallory led VU in goals with five goals on the day, followed by
Riley Hull and
Layla Canales with four.
Ella Mattocks scored twice, while
Tessa Pettit and
Sara Withers scored a goal each.
Tippy Maguire and
Coco Jones led the team in assists with three each.
Hull drew five exclusions for the second consecutive game, also picking up a steal in the contest.
The Saints (4-5) took an early lead, scoring seven goals in the first quarter.
Villanova bounced back in the second quarter, scoring six times to tie the contest at 9-9 at halftime.
Similar to their game against Saint Francis Saturday, the 'Cats began to separate in the third quarter, outscoring Siena 6-1 to take a 15-10 lead.
The final quarter saw both teams score twice and bring the game to its final score of 17-12.
Gracin Kerry started all four quarters for Villanova, saving 15 on 27 attempts. Kerry also assisted three goals on the day.
