VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Villanova women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on its home courts Saturday evening, defeating Colgate, 4-0, at the Villanova Tennis Complex.
'CATS CLAIM THE DOUBLES POINT
Villanova set the tone early by securing the doubles point with wins on Courts 1 and 3.
At No. 3, the duo of
Olivia Corcoran and
Maddie Hills cruised to a commanding 6-1 victory over Hess and Issac to give the Wildcats early momentum.
Emi Callahan and
Maggie Gehrig followed with a hard-fought 7-5 win on Court 1 against Galin and Montcio to clinch the point for VU.
STRONG FINISH IN SINGLES
With the early advantage in hand, the Wildcats carried that momentum into singles play, capturing three straight-set victories to seal the shutout.
Maggie Gehrig earned a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles over Montero, while
Olivia Corcoran followed with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at the top spot against Galin.
Jenna Stevens secured the match-clinching point at No. 3 singles, battling through a tight opening set before prevailing 7-6 and 6-0 in the second set.
