BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Villanova University women's tennis team earned its second consecutive win with a 5–2 road victory over Lehigh on Sunday, February 8.
Similar to their previous match, the Wildcats found themselves trailing after dropping the doubles point. The duo of Callahan/Gehrig secured a 6–2 win on Court No. 1, but the Mountain Hawks claimed victories on Courts No. 2 and No. 3 to take the early advantage.
Villanova responded strongly in singles play, winning five matches to secure the team's second straight victory.
Maggie Gehrig battled to a 7–5, 6–4 win on Court No. 2, while
Miriam Gondorova delivered a dominant 6–2, 6–1 victory on Court No. 3.
Lauren Monti added another point for the Wildcats with a commanding 6–2, 6–0 win on Court No. 4, and
Jenna Stevens clinched the team victory, closing out the scoring with a 6–1, 6–2 result on Court No. 5.
Alina Kornyeva rolled to a nice 6-4, 6-2 win on court No.6.
On Court No. 1,
Olivia Corcoran fell in a close contest, 6–3, 7–5.
Villanova's strong singles performance lifted the Wildcats to their second consecutive win, improving their record to 3–4 on the season.
