VILLANOVA, Pa. – For the second consecutive year, Villanova has landed two athletes on the For Stars Network Watchlist for Division I Women's Rowing with
Jalyn Colon and
Ella Cooper named to the list.
The duo is a part of a 196-athlete list that is comprised of 94 teams across 11 conferences, being two of 15 athletes hailing from the CAA. Athletes were decided upon based on the 2024-25 season matchups and championship results in both conference and national competition, 2025 fall racing and miscellaneous pieces such as erg times, international results, positive yearly trajectory and coaching staff nominations.
Colon is in her second season as a Wildcat where she has become a staple in the V8 boat after racing in six events during the 2024-25 season mostly with that shell for a total of 15 races. She was a part of a fourth-place finish at the Head of the Schuylkill in the Championship 8s (13:02.174) and picked up a trio of wins against Lehigh's V8 at the Bucknell Invite to close the fall with the fastest showing in the head-to-head being a 3:01.27. In the spring, she crossed sixth in the Grand Final at the Knecht Cup in 6:48.45 with the V8 and saw a weekend-best time of 6:42.493 in the third round of the Lake Wheeler Invite. Her season ended with the V8 finishing fourth in the Grand Final in 6:59.222 at the CAA Championship.
Cooper is a newcomer to the team this season and has competed in both events so far for the 'Cats. Her collegiate debut at the Head of the Schuylkill featured appearances in the Championship 8s where she was in a shell that finished third with a time of 12:45.156 and in the Championship 4s with a group that crossed fifth in 14:21.566. At the Princeton Chase, Cooper and the V8 team posted a 15:20.327 time that landed it 28
th out of 63.
The Wildcats are under a month away from starting their spring with a training trip to Florida that will come with back-to-back scrimmages against Jacksonville and Holy Cross on March 6 and 7.
