PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—Graduate student Maria Deaviz (Souderton, Pa.) extended her school record in the shot put by a centimeter during competition at the TCNJ Last Chance Meet on Sunday afternoon. Deaviz improved the Villanova standard in her signature event for the fifth time this season and added to her list of marks for the indoor season which now includes the eight furthest throws in school history.
 
One day after winning a gold medal in her first BIG EAST Championships meet, Deaviz was back in action at Sunday's last chance meet at The Ott Center. She surpassed 17 meters in the shot put for the second time this season on the last day to officially register qualifying marks for consideration for the NCAA Championships.
 
In addition to her five record-setting performances during the year and yesterday's BIG EAST gold medal, Deaviz has been named the BIG EAST Women's Field Athlete of the Week on three occasions during the 2052-26 indoor campaign.
