Women's Tennis Set for Road Match Against Loyola Maryland

Villanova Aims to Extend Three-Match Win Streak at Loyola Maryland

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Villanova women's tennis team will play a single match this weekend, traveling to face Loyola Maryland on Saturday, March 14 at 11:00 a.m.

The Wildcats return to action after a successful trip to Florida, where they competed in two matches and earned victories over Saginaw Valley State and St. Bonaventure. Villanova was also scheduled to face North Carolina A&T State, but that contest was canceled due to weather.

Villanova enters the weekend with momentum, riding a three-match winning streak after a strong 6-1 victory over St. Bonaventure in its most recent outing. The Wildcats dropped the doubles point in that match after losses on courts one and two, but Savie Seebald and Olivia Corcoran secured a 6-0 win on court three to provide Villanova's lone doubles victory.

The Wildcats dominated in singles play, winning all six matches to seal the team victory. Olivia Corcoran led the way in the top spot with a 6-1, 6-2 win, while Maggie Gehrig followed with a commanding 6-2, 6-0 victory on court two. Miriam Gondorova added a 6-1, 6-4 win on court three, and Lauren Monti delivered the most decisive result of the afternoon with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep on court four. Alina Kornyeva continued the strong showing with a 6-2, 6-0 victory, and Savie Seebald closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win.

Loyola Maryland has competed in four matches this season and is still searching for its first win. The Greyhounds have fallen to Seton Hall, Maryland, George Washington and Mount St. Mary's. In their most recent outing, Loyola dropped a close 4-3 decision to Mount St. Mary's. The Greyhounds will host Marist before facing the Wildcats on Saturday.
