BALTIMORE, Md. – The Villanova women's tennis team picked up a
5-2 road victory over Loyola Maryland on Saturday, March 14.
The Wildcats set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point. At the No. 1 position,
Emi Callahan and Maggie Gehrig earned a
7-5 victory over Richiez and Roeok. The pairing of
Jenna Stevens and Lauren Monti followed with a
6-2 win at No. 2 doubles, while
Miriam Gondorova and Olivia Corcoran completed the doubles sweep with a
6-1 victory at the No. 3 spot.
In singles play, Villanova captured three matches to secure the team win.
Maggie Gehrig earned a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles, defeating Hartley
6-2, 6-4. At the No. 3 position,
Miriam Gondorova delivered a dominant performance with a
6-1, 6-1 win over Matriccino.
Jenna Stevens cruised to a 6-4, 6-3 victory in straight sets on court No. 4. Alina Kornyeva clinched the final singles point for the Wildcats with a
6-3, 7-6 victory at the No. 6 spot.
Loyola Maryland picked up singles wins at the No. 1 and No. 5 positions.
