ORLANDO, Fla. – The Villanova women's tennis team earned its third consecutive victory with a 6-1 win over St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, March 5, morning in Orlando, Florida.
The Bonnies claimed the doubles point to start the match, taking wins on courts one and two. The pairing of
Emi Callahan and
Maggie Gehrig fell 6-4 on court one, while the duo of Stevens and Hills dropped a 6-2 decision on court two. Villanova picked up a win on court three as
Savie Seebald and Cicero dominated with a 6-0 victory.
Villanova quickly turned the momentum in singles play, winning all six matches to secure the team victory, and also not dropping a single set.
Olivia Corcoran led the way at the top spot with a strong 6-1, 6-2 win.
Maggie Gehrig followed with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 victory on court two, while
Miriam Gondorova picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win on court three.
Lauren Monti delivered the most decisive result of the afternoon, sweeping her opponent 6-0, 6-0 on court four.
Alina Kornyeva added another convincing performance with a 6-2, 6-0 win, and
Savie Seebald closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
With the win, the Wildcats extend their winning streak to three matches during their Florida trip.
